CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

UCAIug Interoperability Demonstration at CIGRÉ 2012

Paris, France

27-31 August 2012

The UCA International Users Group is sponsoring an interoperability demonstration that will take place at the upcoming CIGRÉ exhibition in Paris, France on 27-31 August 2012. Participation in the interoperability demonstration is available to any UCAIug corporate member that wishes to demonstrate interoperability of an IEC 61850 product. The purpose of the interoperability demonstration is two-fold:

1.       To demonstrate interoperability of devices implementing the IEC 62439-3 standard for the Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) and/or High-availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR) protocols (HSR/PRP Demo).

2.       To demonstrate interoperability of any other feature or capability of IEC 61850 with other participants’ products (IEC 61850 Generic Demo).

Participants in both demonstrations will be expected to cooperate with all other participants to achieve a successful demonstration of interoperability. Member companies with products that do not support network interoperability with one or more other participants (e.g. training programs, etc.) are only allowed to participate at the Gold or Silver levels (see below).

The following conditions have to be met by participants in PRP/HSR Interoperability demo:

·         Participants shall have a working implementation of at least one of the redundancy protocols, PRP or HSR. Prototype or pilot implementations are welcome.

·         Participants in the PRP/HSR Interoperability must participate in a separate testing session that will take place at ZHAW (Zurich University of Applied Sciences) in Zurich/Winterthur, Switzerland in the June/July 2012 timeframe.

·         Only IEC 62439-3:2012 implementations will be considered (PRP-0 implementations are NOT allowed)

·         PRP implementations may include end devices (DANP), RedBoxes, Ethernet switches with integrated RedBox or QuadBox, PC software for two NICs and PRP diagnostic software tool. Ethernet switches or NICs only being PRP-aware (capable of forwarding frames of 1528 bytes containing PRP trailer) are not considered PRP implementations.

·         HSR implementations may include end devices (DANH), RedBoxes, QuadBoxes, Ethernet switches with integrated RedBox or QuadBox, PC card with an integrated DANH and HSR diagnostic software tool.

·         The application protocol for end nodes (relays, substation controllers, software applications, etc.) used during PRP/HSR Interoperability demonstration will be IEC 61850.

Three different participation packages are available to allow UCAIug member companies to have a presence at the UCAIug booth at CIGRÉ 2012:
